(Spelling Words/Tests)
Spelling Words/Spelling Test Information
Each week your child will bring home a list of spellings words in his/her green folder. Spelling word lists will include phonics pattern words and sight words/high frequency words. Spelling tests will be every Friday. Spelling Tests will measure your child’s knowledge of the weekly spelling words in the context of a paragraph. Each spelling word and sight word/high frequency word will be used in a sentence. Your child must use context clues to decide which spelling word belongs in each sentence.
Phonics Assessment Information
Phonics Assessments will also be given weekly to assess your child’s knowledge of letter sounds, letter recognition, coding and reading words, and sentence dictation.
